Har Ki Pauri, which translates to Lord Shiva’s steps, is the most sacred ghat in Haridwar, situated on the banks of the Ganga River. The ghat is renowned for the mythological significance of the elixir (Amrit) that was dropped here by the bird Garuda. Taking a dip in the Ganga at this ghat is said to wash away sins, making it a pilgrimage hotspot. Don’t miss the Ganga aarti held at dawn and dusk, which draws large crowds.
